Baby Set Free Crochet: Scarf Pattern

One of the most popular crochet patterns for babies is the infinity scarf. This pattern is simple and easy to follow, but it can be customized in many ways to make it just the right fit for your little one. You can make a long or short scarf, with or without a border, and in many different colors. Here are some tips for working this pattern:

To begin the pattern, chain 72 (or any multiple of 6). In the next 2 rows, work 3 double crochet stitches into each chain (= 9 stitches). Change to DCB (double crochet in back loop only) and work 1 dc into each stitch = 10 stitches.

Now you’ll start working in rounds. Rounds 1-3: Work 3 dc into each stitch (= 18 stitches). Round 4: *Ch 2, sk 2 sts, work 1 dc into next st; rep from * around (= 12 ch-2 spaces). Round 5: Work 3 dc into first stitch, ch 2, sk next 2 sts (= 11 sts). Work 1dc into next st, ch 2, sk last stitch (= 10 sts).

Round 6: Work 3 dc into first stitch, ch 2, sk2tog (= 7 sts). Work 1dc into next st, ch2 tog last stitch (= 6 sts). Fasten off and weave in ends.

For the border: Chain 5 (or as desired width), turn so that your starting chain lies behind your round piece and sc evenly along the top (ch1 at the beginning of each sc). Fasten off and weave in ends.
