Ears

Bunny ears can be made in any size, with any weight of yarn. The simplest way to make bunny ears is to start with a basic round or chain shape, and work rounds of hdc into the base of the ear, making sure to space them evenly. You can make the bunny ears more fancy by adding some decreases at the end, or doing different color rounds.
2. Make a magic ring and begin working hdc into it (see photo below). Try not to twist the rabbit’s head as you work!
3. When you reach the top of the magic ring, pull up a loop (see photo below), and turn your work so that you are now working in front of the first loop (see photo below).

4. Work 1 hdc into the next stitch, then 2 hdc into the next stitch. Hdc all around (12 stitches).
5. Work 3 hdc in each stitch around—60 stitches total.
6. Change to color A and decrease (see photo below): *work 2 hdc together as one stitch, slip stitched over* three times—48 stitches remain.
7-8: Do not work; leave these stitches unworked for now.
9: Decrease again: *work 2 hdc together as one stitch, slip stitched over* twice—32 stitches remain.

10: Do not work; leave these stitches unworked for now.* Change to color B and work 1 hdc into each of the next 3 stitches, then 2 hdc together as one stitch, slip stitched over*—24 stitches remain.

11: Do not work; leave these stitches unworked for now.
12: Change to color C and work 1 hdc into each of the next 2 stitches, then 2 hdc together as one stitch, slip stitched over*—18 stitches remain.
13: Do not work; leave these stitches unworked for now.
14: Change to color D and work 1 hdc into each of the next 1 stitch, then 2 hdc together as one stitch, slip stitched over*—12 stitches remain.
15: Decrease (see photo below): *work 2 hdc together as one stitch, slip stitched over* once—8 stitches remain.
16: Fasten off and weave in ends.

Feet

This bunny is made from bulky weight yarn and takes a bit more time to make, but the end result is worth it. The body is worked in one piece and then divided into two sections for the head and tail.

The ears are made from three different colors of yarn and the eyes are optional, but we think they really add character to the bunny.

Carrot nose

Do you have a pet rabbit who seems to love carrots more than anything else? If so, you can crochet him or her a carrot nose! This cute little addition is simple to make and just takes a couple of hours.

To start, cut two pieces of yarn about 24 inches long each. Thread one end of each yarn needle into the top knot of one of the carrot pieces, leaving a long tail.

Make a loop with the left needle and insert it back into the top knot on the other carrot piece, pulling tight. Make a loop with the right needle and slip it underneath the left needle loop. Pull both loops tight and tuck them behind the carrot piece. Repeat on the other side.

When you’re finished, your bunny will have a cute little carrot nose!
